Happy Earth Day from Diamonds and Rust April 22 2013

Happy Earth day everybody. We take the ideas behind Earth Day seriously, and reflect those ideals in the items that we carry. A few local companies embody that spirit, and we want to share that with you.

Here are some example of things we carry made from discarded items, giving them a new life that is beautiful and functional.

Tote bag and wood carrier made from reclaimed sail cloth by local company Again and Again.

One of a kind door mat and basket made from reclaimed lobster rope, by Mac's Mats of Gloucester, MA.

One of a kind wood bowls (including one made from old skateboard decks), made by local artist and sculpture Kevin Quinn.

We are excited to announce that we are now carrying one-of-a-kind Bags and Accessories from the Again and Again company in Gloucester, MA. Again and Again were one of the first companies to manufacture their products from recycled Sail Cloth in the country.

Founder Frieda Grotjahn, a native of Stuttgart, Germany, makes her home in Gloucester with her husband and two sons.

Frieda was drawn to this historic seaside fishing community by its unique character, its history, beauty and its people. These special qualities were an integral part of the inspiration for her unique totes, which she is happy to offer to you here.

Each of Frieda's bags is handcrafted, and are a perfect reflection of her sense of style, practicality and concern for the Earth.

These European styled tote, messenger and hand bags are made from recycled sail cloth. They are both fanciful and functional, stylish and practical.
